NHCAA, in partnership with FierceHealthPayer, co-hosts a complimentary webinar examining the growing challenge of medical identity theft. Faculty will examine the schemes, the perpetrators and explain initiatives payers can implement to limit identity theft. The faculty will also demonstrate the human face of medical identify theft and provide examples of how to identify it through data analysis and audits.

Marita Janiga, JD,
Executive Director, NSIU & Compliance Hotline, Kaiser Permanente

Marita Janiga joined the National Compliance, Ethics & Integrity Office (NCO) in August 2008 as a lead investigator for the National Special Investigations team and is currently the Executive Director, National Special Investigations Unit & Compliance Hotline. Janiga began her law enforcement career in 1986 as a Special Agent with the Naval Criminal Investigative Service, where she focused on investigations involving white-collar crime and procurement fraud. In 1993, she was promoted to Senior Special Agent with the U.S. General Services Administration Office of Inspector General (GSA OIG), and in 1995, to the Assistant Special Agent in Charge for the GSA OIG Office of Investigations in the San Francisco Field Office. In 1998, Janiga was promoted to Special Agent in Charge of the U.S. Department of Labor Office of Inspector General (DOL OIG) in San Francisco where she managed field offices in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Seattle, Las Vegas, and Honolulu. Many of the DOL OIG cases managed by Janiga focused on health care fraud in union health plans as well as medical provider fraud in the federal Office of Workers’ Compensation Programs. She retired from federal service in 2007.

CEO and President, Medical Business Associates, Inc.

Rebecca Saltiel Busch is President and CEO of Medical Business Associates, Inc. (MBA), a healthcare consulting, auditing and forensic services firm she founded in 1991. She uses seasoned clinical professionals, as well as a combination of risk management, compliance, IT, finance, fraud and audit training to evolve her staff of highly-trained medical auditors. In addition, Rebecca has several patents, authored three books, penned chapters in 4 professional text books, written over 46 articles, gave over 100 presentations to consumers, government, corporate and professional entities, has prepared academic course work and serves as an adjunct professor. She is an active member in the local and national healthcare, philanthropic and professional community, and has served on various boards. Recognized as an expert in her field, Rebecca has provided public testimony, participated in the development of best practice standards, and served as a forensic expert in both Federal and State court.
