BCBSA creates committee to fight opioid abuse epidemic

The Blue Cross Blue Shield Association, along with top executives from Blue Cross and Blue Shield companies around the country, have formed a new steering committee aimed at addressing the nation's opioid crisis. The executive-level committee--which will investigate the impact of opioid use on individuals, local communities and the healthcare system--will develop recommendations on how BCBS companies can work together with healthcare professionals, government officials and communities across the country to combat opioid abuse and prevent addiction. Announcement
