Eight states see major drop in uninsured numbers

In the first nine months of 2015, eight states experienced a statistically significant drop in the number of their uninsured residents ages 18-64, according to the latest data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's National Health Interview Survey. These states are: Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Illinois, Kentucky, Michigan and New York. On a national level, the uninsured rate for individuals of all ages in 37 selected states dropped to 28.8 million in 2015, or 9.1 percent, which is 7.2 million fewer uninsured than in 2014, and 16 million fewer than in 2013.
