Florida Medicaid expansion talks stall again

The Florida House and Senate remain divided on their approach to Medicaid expansion, which is getting wrapped up in larger, more contentious talks about the state budget, the Tampa Bay Times reported. The Senate says the two topics are connected, as a failure to expand Medicaid will adversely affect the state's budget, while the House wants the issues addressed separately. After the House abruptly adjourned earlier this week over budget disagreements--a move Senate Democrats say violates the state's constitution--it appears that a three-week session to craft a state budget will begin June 1. It's estimated that Medicaid expansion would extend coverage to 800,000 Floridians. Article
