Georgia Blues owes hospital $22M, lawsuit claims

Blue Cross Blue Shield of Georgia is facing a lawsuit from the Medical Center of Central Georgia, which claims it is owed more than $22 million from the insurer, FierceHealthcare reported. The hospital said Blue Cross has been underpaying it for services rendered, including almost $1.2 million in reimbursements for cardiac catheterization procedures in 2011 and about $2.2 million for claims involving babies who were healthy at birth since 2009. Although Medical Center of Central Georgia requested payment from the insurer, the hospital said Blue Cross denied any underpayments, which is a breach of their agreement. --Read the full FIerceHealthcare article
