HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius meets with GOP governor
U.S. Department of Health & Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius met with one of the most ardent health reform opponents--Florida Gov. Rick Scott. Most likely, the meeting was geared toward determining whether Sebelius and Scott can each ensure political gain in their fight over health reform, reported Politico. Although the meeting on Monday didn't result in any specific new deals, Scott said it was a "great conversation," continuing to signal his new outlook on reform.
He added that he still has the same concerns regarding health reform, including the cost of Medicaid expansion and developing a health insurance exchange. "I want the right health care safety net for our citizens, but whatever we do, it's got to be a program that works for Florida," Scott said. "We cannot have an adverse impact on access to quality healthcare or the cost of healthcare." Article
