Insurers' move likely to hurt Minnesota exchange

Minnesota's health insurance marketplace, MNsure, stands to take a significant hit on revenue and enrollment now that two insurers--Blue Cross Blue Shield and Health Partners--have pulled nearly 5,000 policies off the exchange, the Associated Press reports. The insurers say they chose to rout customers to the private market in order to offer better policies to meet consumer demand. But the move means MNsure misses out on the fees it charges on premiums, and forces the exchange to fight to win back customers it already should have. State Sen. Tony Lourey, a Democrat who helped set up MNsure, called the issue "a disturbing trend," and is among legislators who are exploring ways to fix the issue, according to the AP. Article
