Va. Gov. McAuliffe shares Medicaid-alternative plan

Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe (D) shared his Medicaid-alternative plan Monday, reports the Washington Post. McAuliffe vows to provide nearly 25,000 Virginians with health insurance, which is only a fraction of the total number he had hoped to cover if Virginia expanded Medicaid. The final ruling stating whether Virginia will, in fact, expand Medicaid is to be issued on September 18--so in the meantime, McAuliffe is working with what he's got. "I want to be crystal clear that while the plan that I am announcing today will do a lot of good for a lot of people, it does not solve the larger problem of providing health insurance coverage to uninsured Virginians," McAuliffe told the Post.
